Woven Matelasse Heritage Bedspreads

Woven matelasse Heritage bedspreads are woven from the highest grade cotton on Jacquard looms, at Maine Heritage Weavers in Lewiston, Maine. The same city where Benjamin Bates began Bates Manufacturing in 1850.

They are produced at Maine Heritage Weavers, which began 5 years ago by former Bates Fabrics employees. Woven on similar Jacqaurd looms as Bates, matelasse Heritage bedspreads and coverlets are available in many colors including linen, sage and quartz. Heritage (also remembered as Heirloom) is a repeat pattern of a circular and leaf design and one of the oldest designs in our matelasse collection.

In addition to [tag]bedspreads[/tag], shams, [tag]coverlets[/tag] and throws are available. Coverlets feature pom-pom fringe and bedspreads have string fringe. They are machine washable and are woven with fade-resistant dyed yarn.

Woven Matelasse Cape Cod Bedspread

Cape Cod, a favorite woven matelasse summer seashell bedspread is back in the Maine Heritage Weavers collection!

Originally a flat jacquard in the Bates collection, our designer has recreated this seashell pattern for our Jacquard matelasse looms. With its beautiful pattern of lattice work and seashells this matelasse is designed for any decor. Woven of 100% luxurious cotton, trimmed with your choice of braided edge or scalloped fringe, this bedspread is machine washable and is preshrunk. Due to the quality of materials used to produce these famous bedspreads, they are loomed to be heirloomed and last for many years.

Bedspreads will not shrink more than 3 percent. Maine Heritage Weavers weaves [tag]matelasse[/tag] and terry/[tag]chenille[/tag]-type (candlewick) coverlets, bedspreads, blankets, throws and shams on their Jacquard looms in Lewiston, Maine. Using the highest quality yarn and fade resistant dyes, their matelasses are "loomed to be treasured heirlooms".

Matelasse Woven Tuscany Bedspreads

We are proud to announce "Tuscany" as the newest addition to our woven matelasse collection. Although taken from the archives of America's "attic," the Smithsonian Institution, Tuscany's grape and vine pattern and floral motif evoke images of the Tuscany region of Italy. The puffed [tag]matelasse[/tag] technique defines the design, giving it a dimensional look and feel that is elegant and rich. The [tag]bedspread[/tag], matching throws and shams are 100% cotton.

Sizes include: twin 80"x110", full 96"x110", queen 102"x110" and king 116"x120".  Shams and throws are also woven in this design.  This woven matelasse bedspread is machine washable and will not shrink more than 3 percent.  Fade resistant dyes and the finest cotton available make this bedspread a treasured woven Heirloom that will last for years.

In addition to woven matelasses, Maine Heritage Weavers also manufactures bedding products in a terry loop/candlewick construction at their Lewiston, Maine mill.

Luxury Cotton Coverlets

Maine Heritage Weavers has been weaving luxury cotton coverlets in their Lewiston, Maine facility for over 5 years.  Comprised mostly of former Bates employees, Maine Heritage Weavers have many years of experience.

The coverlets are woven with high grade cotton, in standard coverlet sizes.  Candlewick (terry-loop/[tag]chenille[/tag]) and [tag]matelasse[/tag] (trapunto) coverlets are preshrunk and machine washable.  Martha's Choice is an example of a candlewick coverlet and Abigail Adams is a matelasse design.

These luxury 100 percent cotton coverlets are woven on Jacquard Looms and are "loomed to be heirloomed".
