Woven Matelasse Bates-style Tuscany Bedspreads

Woven Matelasse Bates-style Tuscany bedspreads are available at the Bates Mill Store in all bedspread standard sizes and many color combinations including wedgewood blue/white.

Maine Heritage Weavers, of Lewiston, Maine, USA, is a company steeped in the traditions of America’s past, yet we are open to designs that reflect the spirit and motifs of other nations, as our Tuscany bedspread represents.

Our newest matelasse design is named “Tuscany”. Although taken from the archives of America’s “attic,” the Smithsonian Institution, Tuscany’s grape and vine pattern and floral motif evoke images of the Tuscany region of Italy. The puffed trapunto technique defines the design, giving it a dimensional look and feel that is elegant and rich. The bedspread, matching throws and pillow shams are 100% cotton.

Sizes include: twin 80″x110″, full 96″x110″, queen 102″x110″ and king 116″x120″. Shams and throws are also woven in this design. This woven matelasse bedspread is machine washable and will not shrink more than 3 percent. Fade resistant dyes and the finest cotton available make this vintage bedspread a treasured woven heirloom bedspread that will last for years.

In addition to woven matelasses including vintage favorites “Heritage”, “Cape Cod” and “Queen Elizabeth”, Maine Heritage Weavers also manufactures bedding products in a terry loop/chenille construction at their Lewiston, Maine mill on looms similar to Bates Fabrics. Luxurious bedspreads and coverlets have been woven in Lewiston, Maine for over 150 years.
