Jacquard looms are used to weave these elegant cotton matelasse coverlets and bedspreads. Matelasse bedspreads have been woven on looms in Lewiston, Maine, for the past 150 years at the former Bates Mill. Now, these luxurious woven cotton bedspreads are offered in a variety of sizes, designs and colors by Maine Heritage Weavers, a company that has former Bates employees weaving coverlets and bedspreads.
Heavy Jacquard loomed matelasse “trapunto” woven bedspreads are woven with raised fabric and embossed surface designs and are being sold throughout the United States and the rest of the world and are regarded as the best money can buy.
